During the more than 80 years since Mandom began, we have faced at least two severe financial crises. We were able to overcome these crises, and in so doing, we turned back to our origins -our spirit of enterprise- to reexamine our mission and role in the world.
One thing we learned from these experiences was that once our employees have put their creativity to good use in creating new, valuable products, our job is to ensure that as many consumers as possible are given the opportunity to appreciate that value. Put simply, we believe that we must contribute to a more comfortable life for consumers.
That phrase has been etched in our minds as we have pursued our business activities over the years, fostering a spirit of contribution throughout the Company.
That spirit of contribution, founded on the ethos of contributing to a more comfortable life for consumers, has steadily expanded through our various business operations. Over time, this spirit has developed in two directions.
First, it has broadened in scope, as we realized that the only way to succeed in delivering true satisfaction to our customers was to continually strive to serve our stakeholders. Second, our spirit of contribution has diversified. Instead of contributing to consumers lives solely through our products, we now aim to do so anytime our business activities cross paths with the lives of consumers.
Mandom has begun to serve a greater range of people in a greater variety of situations. The public has come to expect more of us in terms of corporate social responsibility. Consumer demands have become more diverse and specialized. Now, more than ever, we must exercise good judgment as a corporate citizen. To this end, Our Philosophy guides us in ensuring that we follow our spirit of contribution in all our daily business activities.
