Q&A on Troubleshooting

What should I do if I get hair dyeing product on my vanity unit or other parts of my bathroom?

Wash or wipe the hair dyeing product off straight away. If you leave it, it will become impossible to remove.
You can sometimes make stains less prominent using the method below but, depending on the materials used in your bathroom and its fixtures, this may end up causing further stains or damage, so we recommend you check with the manufacturer of the affected item before trying.

Method for Removing Stains

For stains on bathtubs
  • White bathtubs: Soak a cotton pad in a chlorine-based bleach and stick it to the affected area for 30 to 40 minutes. Then, rinse with water.
  • Colored bathtubs: Soak a cotton pad or paper towel in a solution of chlorine-based bleach and water (in accordance with bleach instructions) and stick it to the affected area for 30 to 40 minutes. Then, rinse with water. Note, however, that this may cause discoloration or decomposition, so be sure to test on an inconspicuous part of the bathtub first.

For stains on vanity units
  1. In the case of hard, smooth, straight surfaces impermeable to water (e.g., enamel, plastic, fiber-reinforced plastic)
You can try using a melamine foam sponge, but be aware that this may cause small scratches. However, do not use this method on mirrors with special coatings (e.g., to prevent fogging) as it may scratch the coating and leave the mirror unusable.
  2. In the cases of uneven surfaces that are impermeable to water
Soak a cotton pad or paper towel in a solution of chlorine-based bleach and water (in accordance with bleach instructions) and stick it to the affected area for approximately one hour. Then, rinse with water. Note, however, that this may cause discoloration or decomposition, so be sure to test on an inconspicuous part of the vanity unit first.
