My hair is black. If I want to dye it a lighter color, such as GATSBY Natural Bleach & Color Aqua Silver, do I need to bleach it first?

Yes, you do.

Hair dyeing products work by bleaching your hair as part of the coloring process. That’s why, even if you use hair dye on black hair, you’ll notice a slight change in color afterwards. However, with hair dye technology today, there is a limit to the actual bleaching power of any hair dyeing product.

For example, if you want to dye your hair a lighter color like GATSBY Natural Bleach & Color Aqua Silver, if you don’t bleach your hair beforehand, the dye itself may not bleach your hair sufficiently. The color you end up with may not be what you’d hoped for.

(Leave an interval of at least a week between bleaching your hair and dyeing it to protect your hair and skin).
