Q&A on Safety

Do hair dyeing products cause allergic reactions?

Some people may experience allergic reactions such as itching, swelling, rash, or irritation. Allergic reactions are a function of the immune system that happen when the body decides substances such as cosmetic products are a “foreign object” that must be expelled. It is a vital part of the human body, but some people’s bodies have extreme responses, which show up as allergic reactions.

Allergic reactions happen only in a few people, but when they do appear, they tend to do so suddenly. Once an allergic reaction does happen, that person may continue to be allergic to that particular substance for life.
