Can I dye gray hair using a hair dyeing product other than one specifically for gray hair?

Using a hair dyeing product that is not designed for use on gray hair will result in a thin coloring that will fade from the gray parts of your hair in approximately a week.

It will also have a different dyeing effect on the gray areas and non-gray areas of your hair, creating inconsistencies.
